For many of us, Sunday morning at 1Love Christian Church is the highlight of our week. There is something truly special about gathering at 10:00 AM for fellowship, lifting our voices during Praise & Worship at 10:30 AM, and diving into the Word together. We leave the building feeling refreshed, encouraged, and ready to take on the world.
But then, Monday morning rolls around.
The alarm clock goes off, the kids can’t find their shoes, the Boise traffic is backed up on I-84, and that email you’ve been dreading is waiting in your inbox. In those moments, the peace we felt on Sunday can feel like a distant memory. We often fall into the trap of thinking that "church life" happens on Sunday and "real life" happens the rest of the week.

The Kitchen Table and the Morning Commute
Following Jesus starts in the most private spaces of our lives: our homes. It’s easy to be kind to a fellow church member during our 10:00 AM fellowship time, but it’s much harder to show that same grace to a spouse or a child when you’re tired or stressed.
Practical discipleship often looks like a choice made at the kitchen table. It’s choosing a gentle answer instead of a sharp retort. It’s being the first to say, "I’m sorry, I was wrong." As a Boise Christian community, we are called to let the love of Christ permeate our most intimate relationships.
Before you even leave your house, try starting the day with a simple prayer. It doesn't have to be long or formal. Just a quick, "Lord, help me to see people today the way You see them," can shift your entire perspective. When you’re stuck in traffic or navigating a busy morning at the local coffee shop, remember that every person you encounter is someone Jesus loves deeply. Following Him means carrying His peace into the chaos of the morning rush.
Integrity and Grace at Work
For most of us, work is where we spend the majority of our waking hours. Whether you’re working in a downtown Boise office, managing a home, or serving in the healthcare industry, your workplace is your primary mission field.
Following Jesus at work isn't always about hosting a Bible study in the breakroom (though that’s great!). Often, it’s about the quality of your character. It’s about being a person of integrity: doing the right thing even when no one is looking. It’s about being "salt and light" by being the person who doesn’t join in on the office gossip or the one who offers a word of Christian encouragement to a struggling coworker.
We live in a performance-driven culture that demands perfection. But at 1Love Christian Church, we lean into the truth that we are saved by grace. When you make a mistake at work, you don’t have to hide in shame. You can acknowledge it, fix it, and move forward, knowing your identity isn’t found in your job title but in being a child of God. This "grace-centered" approach actually makes us better employees and leaders because it frees us from the paralyzing fear of failure.
Forgiveness in the Real World
One of the most practical: and difficult: ways we follow Jesus is through forgiveness. Life in Boise is full of opportunities to be offended. A misunderstanding with a neighbor, a conflict with a family member, or a disagreement with a friend can quickly turn into bitterness.
Scripture tells us to "forgive as the Lord forgave you" (Colossians 3:13). This isn't just a nice suggestion; it’s a vital part of our spiritual growth. Forgiveness doesn't mean that what happened was okay, and it doesn't mean you have to be a doormat. It means you are releasing the debt so that it no longer has power over your heart.

Spiritual growth rarely happens in giant leaps. Instead, it happens in a thousand small choices made over time. It’s the choice to spend ten minutes in the Word before turning on the news. It’s the choice to give generously of your time through our Serve Teams. It’s the choice to attend a Bible Study & Discipleship group to go deeper into the truths of Scripture.
As a non-denominational Christian church in Boise, we focus on the "Grace Over Perfection" vibe. You don’t have to have it all figured out to follow Jesus. You just have to be willing to take the next step. Maybe that step is joining our Man Up Men’s Ministry on a Saturday morning to find brotherhood and accountability. Maybe it’s bringing your little ones to our Kids Ministry so they can start their own journey with Jesus.
Staying Connected to the Vine
Jesus told His disciples, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing" (John 15:5). Following Jesus throughout the week requires staying connected to Him and to His body, the church.
That’s why we offer opportunities to recharge in the middle of the week. Sunday is our big celebration, but our mid-week rhythms help keep the fire burning.

A Community of Grace
Following Jesus in everyday life is about recognizing that every moment is an opportunity to experience and extend God's grace. Whether you are folding laundry, filing reports, or enjoying a walk in a Boise park, God is with you.
You don't have to be perfect to follow Jesus. You just have to be willing. At 1Love Christian Church, we are a small, tight-knit family of 50-70 people who are all trying to figure this out together. We aren't a mega-church with all the answers; we are a community of believers who love Jesus and love each other.
