We’ve all been there. It’s Sunday morning at 11:00 AM, and you’re sitting in the sanctuary at 1Love Christian Church. The worship was moving, the fellowship at 10:00 AM was warm, and the sermon feels like it was written just for you. You feel inspired, challenged, and ready to take on the world for Jesus.
But then Monday happens. The alarm goes off, the emails start flooding in, the kids are looking for their shoes, and that "Sunday feeling" begins to fade. By Tuesday, the powerful point the pastor made about grace or forgiveness feels like a distant memory.
At 1Love Christian Church in Boise, we believe that faith isn't just a weekend event: it’s a lifestyle. God’s Word is "living and active" (Hebrews 4:12), which means the message we hear on Sunday is meant to breathe life into our Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
So, how do we stop the "Sunday fade"? How do we carry the truths we learn into the rhythms of our daily lives? Here is a practical guide to help you reflect on Sunday’s teaching and walk it out all week long.
1. Start with Intentional Listening
The journey of a sermon from the pulpit to your heart starts before the first word is even spoken. Our Sunday rhythm begins at 9:30 AM with In-Depth Bible Study. This is a dedicated time to dig into the roots of Scripture before the main service. When you arrive early to study and then join the Fellowship time at 10:00 AM, you are softening the soil of your heart.
During the sermon at 11:00 AM, try taking a few notes. You don't need to write down every word, but jot down:
- The main Scripture passage.
- One phrase or thought that "hit" you.
- One question that came to mind.
Writing things down signals to your brain (and your spirit) that this information is worth keeping. It gives you a "hook" to hang your thoughts on later in the week.

2. The "Sunday Afternoon Review"
Before the sun sets on Sunday, take ten minutes to look at your notes or simply sit in quiet reflection. Ask yourself: “If I only remember one thing from today, what should it be?”
A great way to do this is during a walk through one of our beautiful Boise parks or over a quiet lunch. Don't overcomplicate it. Just ask the Holy Spirit to highlight the one area of your life where this message applies. Is it your marriage? Your attitude at work? Your struggle with anxiety?
Practical Step: Write that one word or phrase on a sticky note and put it on your bathroom mirror or your car dashboard. Let it be a gentle nudge throughout the week.
3. Lean Into Mid-Week Recharges
One of the reasons we lose the message is because we try to carry it alone. Christian life was never meant to be a solo sport. At 1Love Christian Church, we provide several "touchpoints" during the week to keep the fire burning.
- Monday Night Facebook Live (8:30 PM – 9:00 PM): This is a perfect time to hop online for a quick dose of encouragement. Often, these sessions help bridge the gap between Sunday’s teaching and the start of the work week.
- Wednesday Night Recharge (6:00 PM – 8:00 PM): By Wednesday, many of us are running low. This midweek gathering is designed specifically to refuel your spirit and reconnect with your church family.
- Friday Fellowship (6:30 PM): Fellowship is where the Word gets "flesh" on it. As we share meals and lives, we see how others are applying the same truths we heard on Sunday. (Make sure to message 1Love for this week’s location!)

4. Pray Through the Message
Instead of just praying for your "list" of needs this week, try praying the sermon back to God.
If the message was about God’s provision, your prayer might look like this: “Lord, on Sunday I heard that You are my Provider. Today, I’m feeling stressed about my finances. Help me trust what I heard and see Your hand at work today.”
This turns "head knowledge" into a "heart conversation." It invites God into the specific application of His Word. When we pray through the message, we aren't just remembering a speech; we are engaging with the Living God.
5. Take One Practical Next Step
The goal of every sermon at 1Love Christian Church in Boise is transformation, not just information. James 1:22 tells us to be "doers of the word, and not hearers only."
What is one small thing you can do this week because of what you heard?
- If the sermon was about kindness, send an encouraging text to a coworker.
- If it was about prayer, commit to five minutes of silence during your lunch break.
- If it was about service, check out our Serve Teams or ask how you can help in the Kids Ministry or Teen Ministry.
One small step of obedience is worth more than a thousand pages of notes.

Grace for the Journey
As you try to carry Sunday into your week, remember that we are a community of grace. Some weeks you’ll be on fire, and other weeks you’ll forget the sermon by the time you hit the parking lot. That’s okay. God’s mercies are new every morning.
Whether you are part of our Man Up Men’s Ministry on Saturday mornings or joining us for Bible Study & Discipleship, the goal is the same: growing one step at a time in our walk with Jesus.
If you missed this past Sunday or if you’re looking for a Christian church in Boise where you can grow and find real community, we would love to have you join us.
