At 1Love Christian Church, we know that being "new" can sometimes feel overwhelming. You might be wondering, "What do I do now?" or "How do I actually grow in my faith?" The good news is that following Jesus isn’t about following a long list of complicated rules. It’s about a relationship.
Here are some simple, practical next steps to help you walk with Jesus, one step at a time, right here in our Boise church community.
1. Understand That It’s All About Grace
The foundation of your new life is not what you can do for God, but what Jesus has already done for you. In a world that often demands we "earn" our way, the Gospel is different. It is a gift.
As a new believers church in Boise, we emphasize that you don't have to have it all figured out to belong here. You are loved exactly as you are. Growing in faith simply means learning to lean more on God's grace every day. When you make a mistake (and we all do!), you don't have to hide. You can bring it to God, receive His forgiveness, and keep moving forward.
2. Start a Conversation with God (Prayer)
Prayer might sound like a "religious" word, but it really just means talking to God. You don't need special language or "thee's and thou's." You can talk to Him just like you’d talk to a friend.
- Be Honest: Tell Him how you’re feeling, your joys, your fears, and your questions.
- Keep it Simple: You don't need to pray for an hour. Start with five minutes in the morning or while you’re driving through Boise traffic.
- Listen: Sometimes prayer is just being still and asking God to lead your heart.

3. Begin Reading the Bible
If prayer is talking to God, reading the Bible is how we listen to Him. The Bible is God’s "instruction manual" for life, but more than that, it’s a love letter to humanity.
If you’ve never read the Bible before, it can be intimidating. We recommend starting with the Gospel of John in the New Testament. It tells the story of Jesus’ life, His miracles, and His incredible love for you.
Practical Tip: Don't try to read the whole thing at once. Just a few verses a day can change your perspective. If you want to dive deeper, join our In-Depth Bible Study every Sunday morning at 9:30 AM at 1Love Christian Church. It’s a safe place to ask questions and learn alongside others who are also growing.
4. Find Your People (Community)
Following Jesus was never meant to be a solo sport. We need each other! At 1Love Christian Church, we are a small, tight-knit community where people actually know your name.
Community is where "faith" becomes "life." It’s where we support each other during hard weeks and celebrate the good ones.
- Sunday Fellowship: Arrive at 10:00 AM on Sundays for our fellowship time before the service. It’s the perfect, low-pressure way to meet people.
- Wednesday Night Recharge: Join us from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM for a midweek boost of community and growth.
- Friday Fellowship: Every Friday at 6:30 PM, we gather for a casual time of connection. Message us for this week’s location!
5. Take the Step of Baptism
One of the most powerful steps a new believer can take is baptism in Boise. Baptism is an outward symbol of the inward change Jesus has made in your life. It’s a way of saying, "I’m with Jesus now."
Think of it like a wedding ring. The ring doesn’t make you married, but it tells the whole world that you are committed to your spouse. Baptism tells the church and the world that you are committed to following Christ.

6. Get Involved in Ministry
As you grow, you’ll find that God has given you unique gifts to help others. Serving is one of the best ways to feel like you truly belong. At 1Love Christian Church, we have many ways to get involved:
- Kids Ministry & Teen Ministry: Help the next generation find their way to Jesus.
- Serve Teams: Help with greeting, hospitality, or setting up for our 10:30 AM Praise & Worship.
- Man Up Men’s Ministry: For the guys, our Saturday morning group (8:30 AM – 10:00 AM) is a great place to build strength and character.
- Outreach & Evangelism: Join our Tuesday Gospel-Sharing Training (6:30 PM – 8:00 PM) to learn how to share your new faith with others in the Boise community.
